The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank (ELEFB) is a charitable not-for-profit. It is our community's active response to the issue of food insecurity and hunger in Elliot Lake. The ELEFB is a community volunteer organization whose board of directors is formed from community members and representatives from our six founding churches. The food bank acknowledges the hard work and dedication of its past and present volunteers and recommits to the task at hand; denying hunger a seat at the dinner tables of Elliot Lake.

HISTORY
As told by former volunteers...
In 1982, the Pentecostal Church was the first to respond to the economic problem being felt within the mining families. As more wives and mothers asked for assistance, one church found the task too onerous and other churches became involved, meeting every 6-8 weeks to make decisions about the Food Bank. The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank was incorporated on January 29, 1992. Several venues have housed the food bank: Dieppe Plaza, next to the Post Office, Mary Walk, and now it's current location at 29 Columbia Walk.
The First Recorded Board of Directors: 1992-94 President: George Caldwell First Baptist Church (now Fellowship Baptist) Secretary: Peggy Quinn St. Peter the Apostle Treasurer: Father Gerald La Jeunesse Paroisse Sainte Marie
